elementsuite is a full-suite, AI-enabled HR software provider serving enterprise customers in the retail, hospitality, and manufacturing sectors. Their modular software allows employers to manage their workforce over the breadth of the employee lifecycle from recruitment through to appraisal, with significant benefits to workforce productivity, staff satisfaction and employee retention. The company’s proprietary AI assistant ELLA is a leading example of an SME deploying its own AI technology into the Enterprise HCM sector at scale.

Limerston identified elementsuite as part of its investment strategy to support the growing demand for outsourced Human Capital Management services worldwide. We met Steve Elcock in 2017 and quickly recognised a driven founder with a relentless focus on product innovation and a deep understanding of software design and development. We were attracted to the company’s growing and strongly recurring revenue base and its ability to rapidly expand share of wallet through the continuous development of additional workforce management products.

We developed a relationship with Steve that resulted in a bilateral deal to bolster Empowering People Group’s service offering by acquiring Steve’s HCM implementation consultancy Succeed while at the same time securing a significant minority interest in elementsuite.

What we did and how we exited

At the time of our investment elemensuite’s offering consisted of a single full-service platform with a complex sales process and lengthy implementation times. Together with management we identified the opportunity to reduce friction in the sales process and materially cut time to go-live by developing a more streamlined, modular approach to implementation.

By leveraging this modular approach the company was able to accelerate the ramp in revenue from new clients, while the ability to rapidly switch on additional products underpinned a land-and-expand sales strategy that made a material contribution to the company’s impressive ARR growth.

In addition, we supported the CEO in investing in the management team, driving the professionalisation and expansion of the commercial function and putting in place the systems to support the acceleration of the growth.
